Information for Patients Referred via NHS Right to Choose

Berkeley Psychiatrists is commissioned by the NHS to provide Adult ADHD assessments and medication titration appointments for patients registered with a GP in England. Referrals for assessment must be made by your GP. These services are fully funded by the NHS, and there is no cost to patients.

Our NHS Right to Choose service is available to patients aged 18 and over. All assessments are currently conducted via secure video consultation.

Waiting Times

The current waiting time for assessment is approximately 2–4 weeks. Please note that delays may occur if GP practices take longer to submit referral documentation, which may affect the time it takes for you to receive an appointment.

Waiting times are reviewed and updated weekly and can be viewed on this page.

Once we have received and processed your referral, we will confirm receipt with your GP.

Scope of Service

Under the NHS Right to Choose scheme, Berkeley Psychiatrists provides assessment and medication titration for Adult ADHD only. We do not offer assessment or treatment for other health conditions under this service.

We are contracted to provide Adult ADHD assessments and medication titration as clinically required. If non-pharmacological support is needed, your clinician will signpost or refer you to appropriate locally commissioned services in accordance with our Right to Choose contract.

Indicative Activity Plans

Please note that some Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) across England have introduced Indicative Activity Plans. These plans limit the number of patients that providers can assess within a financial year.

Once we receive your referral, we will inform you whether the ICB responsible for your geographical area has implemented an Indicative Activity Plan and explain what this may mean for your referral.

The Booking Process

Once your referral has been approved, you will receive a booking link to schedule your video consultation.

You will be able to book an appointment with the clinician of your choice.

The clinicians offering appointments through the Right to Choose scheme will be listed within the booking link you receive.

How to Begin the Process

To initiate a referral, your GP must complete the required referral form and send it to our NHS email address: kmicb.berkeley.psychiatrists@nhs.net
