Dr Roma Paul is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with a broad clinical background spanning inpatient care, community services, Crisis and Home Resolution Teams, Early Intervention Services, learning disability services, forensic psychiatry, rehabilitation and ADHD pathways. She is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is listed on the General Adult Psychiatry Specialist Register with the General Medical Council. She also holds Approved Clinician Status and is Section 12(2) approved under the Mental Health Act.

After completing her MBBS, Dr Paul obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Health and began her career in psychiatry. She completed her higher training in Cambridge, where she was actively involved in teaching at the University of Cambridge. During this time, she facilitated clinical communication skills seminars, delivered lectures in psychiatry to undergraduate medical students and was invited by local radio to present a neuroscience-focused podcast that was well received.

Dr Paul has held substantive consultant roles in both the NHS and private sectors, including several years with the East London NHS Foundation Trust before taking up a permanent position at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. She has significant experience running ADHD clinics and is highly experienced in both the assessment and management of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. She is particularly passionate about understanding the varied presentations of neurodevelopmental conditions and the influence of psychosocial and cultural factors on clinical expression and patient experience.

Her approach is grounded in compassion, respect and honesty. She places strong emphasis on ensuring patients have equitable access to care, feel able to express their preferences and are supported collaboratively in developing treatment plans that reflect their needs and values.

Dr Paul has worked extensively with individuals from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds. In addition to English, she is able to communicate in Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi, which can greatly enhance patient comfort and engagement.

Outside of clinical practice, Dr Paul is an enthusiastic cook who enjoys preparing and sharing diverse cuisines, finding joy in the communal nature of food and the connections it creates.
