Dr Hosam Abed

Dr Hosam Abed MBBS, MRCPsych is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with dual Certificate of Completion of Training accreditation in General Adult Psychiatry and Old Age Psychiatry, and over 18 years of substantive consultant practice. He is currently based at Sherwood Oaks Hospital within Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, where he serves as a medical lead for acute inpatient services and crisis resolution and home treatment pathways.

Dr Abed has extensive experience in managing complex psychiatric conditions and has worked across a wide range of clinical environments, including community services, locked rehabilitation, psychiatric intensive care units, acute inpatient wards and crisis resolution and home treatment teams. He holds Approved Clinician Status and is Section 12(2) approved under the Mental Health Act, reflecting his expertise in the assessment and management of severe mental illness.

A former Lead Consultant, Dr Abed is also highly committed to medical education. He serves as a College Tutor and provides supervision to trainees at all levels of psychiatric training. He has contributed to service development through numerous clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives, remains actively engaged in continuous professional development and has been awarded two clinical excellence awards.

Dr Abed is known for his patient-centred, collaborative and evidence-based approach to care, combining strong clinical leadership with a supportive and compassionate manner.

He is available to undertake adult ADHD assessments.
