Dr. Maria Diaz

Dr. Maria Diaz, MBBS, LMS, Consultant Psychiatrist with Special Interest in ADHD, Affiliate of the Royal College of Psychiatrists

Highly experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with more than 25 years of clinical practice, with a diverse clinical background across General Adult, Crisis Team, Early Intervention in Psychosis, Rehab and Recovery, Community, Old Age, Learning Disability, and Forensic Psychiatry. She has a special interest in ADHD and sees many patients with this condition.

Dr. Diaz studied Medicine and Surgery at the University of Salamanca, Spain, and undertook her psychiatry specialty training in the Oxford rotation, UK. She holds full GMC registration and is Section 12 approved.

She currently works as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Community Mental Health Team at Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, seeing patients across a range of needs, including those under restriction, and is responsible for producing MOJ Reports. She has extensive experience at consultant level in Crisis Teams, Early Intervention in Psychosis, and Community psychiatry, and has worked across multiple healthcare organisations throughout the United Kingdom, including both NHS and private settings.

Dr. Diaz is known for her empathetic and patient-centred approach. She follows a holistic model, treating each patient individually, recognising that every patient’s needs are different. She supervises and trains medical student from Southampton University, supports multidisciplinary teams, and ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care.

Fluent in Spanish and English, she can conduct assessments in both languages, and is also proficient in French, Portuguese, and Italian.
