Dr Joanna Woodger
Dr Joanna Woodger has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist since 2011. She specialises in adult mental health.
Joanna's particular expertise lies in the area of complex physical health issues affecting mental health and effects of mental health difficulties on physical wellbeing.
She has consultant level experience of Perinatal Psychiatry including pre-conception advice, supporting families during pregnancy and post-delivery.
Joanna can help in the diagnosis and management of difficulties related to mood such as ADHD, anxiety, depression and bipolar affective disorder.
Joanna trained in Psychiatry at Cambridge. Before embarking on a career in Mental Health she trained as a surgeon. She offers specialist pre- operative assessments including capacity assessments.
Joanna's abilities have been recognised by her peers: she was elected Vice-Chair for the Eastern Region at the Royal College of Psychiatrists as well as the Executive of the Liaison Faculty of the Royal College.
Joanna has occupied senior roles in the NHS: she has been a Clinical Director and a Lead for Postgraduate Medical Education.
She is a Special Visitor of the Public Guardian Office and carries out capacity assessments on behalf of the Ministry of Justice and until recently was a Member of the Management and Leadership Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Dr Woodger currently works as a Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist at the prestigious Royal Papworth Hospital.
Hobbies and Interests
Dr Woodger is a lover of early twentieth century art, she also enjoys skiing and walking her dogs. She delivers international psychiatry lectures for charitable organisations.
