Dr Vineet Sukumar

Dr Vineet Sukumar is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with a broad international background in mental health care across India and the UK. He is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and holds Approved Clinician Status, as well as Section 12(2) approval under the Mental Health Act.

Having grown up in Abu Dhabi, Dr Sukumar completed his undergraduate and postgraduate psychiatric training in India, gaining deep insight into cultural and developmental influences on mental health. He moved to the UK in 2020 on a clinical fellowship scheme and successfully transitioned into the NHS, completing his MRCPsych examinations and retraining as a Consultant Psychiatrist in Older Adults Psychiatry.

Dr Sukumar is recognised for his thoughtful, evidence-based approach and for creating a calm, supportive environment that enables patients to feel heard and understood. His clinical interests include trauma-informed formulation and the assessment of adult ADHD, with a particular focus on how early developmental experiences shape mental health in adulthood.

In addition to English, he is able to conduct full assessments in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil and Urdu, allowing patients to express themselves comfortably in their first language.

He has a strong interest in digital psychiatry and is a Topol Digital Fellow (Cohort 4), reflecting his commitment to innovation and the considered use of technology to enhance patient care.
