Dr Lopa Mitra is a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in Old Age Psychiatry, with over a decade of consultant-level experience across both NHS and private healthcare settings. She completed her undergraduate medical training in India before undertaking higher specialist psychiatric training within the Yorkshire Deanery.
Dr Mitra has developed particular expertise in the assessment of attention, executive function, memory and perception, and in understanding how these cognitive processes shape daily functioning. Her clinical practice is grounded in thorough, balanced assessment across a wide spectrum of psychiatric and cognitive conditions, including neurodevelopmental disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders and cognitive disorders. This breadth of experience enables her to consider symptoms in their wider clinical and personal context, rather than in isolation.
Alongside her NHS role, Dr Mitra undertakes adult ADHD assessments in accordance with NICE guidance and national standards. Her approach draws on extensive consultant-level expertise in evaluating attention, executive function, memory and psychiatric symptoms across the lifespan, with careful consideration given to differential diagnoses and co-existing conditions. She places strong emphasis on listening to each individual’s experience, providing clear explanations of assessment outcomes and helping people develop a meaningful understanding of their difficulties and treatment options.
Dr Mitra is known for her thoughtful, patient-centred approach and her commitment to delivering assessments that are clinically robust, compassionate and tailored to each person’s unique circumstances.
